Deer Hunting in Wisconsin

Wisconsin hunters accidentally shot and killed 2 elk during deer hunting season. The city dweller that I am, I had no idea we even had elk in our state. According to the news report, elk have been reintroduced to Wisconsin and are beginning to reproduce in numbers. They stated that most elk have ear tags and are wearing a "necklace" to help identify them.

With the beer that accompanies most deer hunters, the early morning hunting, and looking at the similarities of the animals, I can see a mistake taking place. After all, there have been large dogs and humans targeted by mistake.  I can only imagine the embarrassment (and guilt) of showing up with what you thought was a prize deer, only to be told you should have done some homework.
