The Gopher Tortoise of Florida

Here’s the big boy/girl we saw on our walk this morning. He or she let me get right up to him/her. The amusing part is there is a sign about a hundred yards away saying “Gopher Tortoise Crossing.” It was just munching away on the grass.

This is how we roll in Florida. Ibis march across our ponds and lawns feeding upon the insect life. They are fearless.

Pretty, but Deceptive

Just a pretty picture from Google that I found of winter. It can be so beautiful, if only it wasn't so cold, treacherous, and too much heavy lifting. The sun is shining in Racine, and the temperature has reached 40 degrees. There is still snow on the grass, but they say we might actually get some rain. I'm ready for Spring, but I'm sure we aren't done here, yet.

Sable parties hard

Wish I could get a copy of a video a friend took of her opening presents. She was relentless. I thought I was nuts, but this gang of people sang Happy Birthday and Sable responded by howling right along. (Sigh), there is no hope for me.

The Things People do for their Pets!

Sable is turning ten next week. Just to prove we are crazy, we are having a birthday party on Sunday. I ordered these napkins along with matching paper plates for the big day.

Cold Snap Continues

The deep freeze continues. Kenosha had a power outage for several hours last night. They eventually opened up a couple of warming shelters. We are currently at -2 out there. Feels frigid!
