The last time my doorbell rang was 1998. We were In Madison after Christmas shopping, and (according to the next door neighbor) a religious group going door to door rang the doorbell, and a while later the upstairs of the house was on fire. The doorbell stuck, and the transformer In the attic overheated, causing something to start on fire, destroying the upstairs to the tune of nearly 90,000 dollars. We came home to a HUGE surprise. I told the people rebuilding the house "I did NOT want a new doorbell installed, NOT even wireless" so I don't have one.
