Wednesday - Open Blog

Not too much sleep the past couple of nights. It has been rather noisy.  One after another, it just keeps rolling through. Hope the basement doesn't take on too much water.

  1. Have to turn the lights back on. The house is getting very dark. This morning, it was as black as night in here. Mother nature is upset about something! Too much Bloatus Tweeting? ;)

  2. Is this "NON EXISTENT" Climate Change something else, or WHAT? I'm TIRED up to my ASS, and that's a long way. I can't get my Kitchen Sink to drain. The 150 year old pipe In the wall Is screwed up. The basement ALWAY'S has water at one end. My wife has SEVERE Pneumonia and spent 3 day's In the hospital. Has Oxygen at home to help. I have to take her back to the DR. today. WINNIE Is slowly leaving me, and I have NO idea how I will deal with that. Is the World Ending? OH, the electricians did such a fine job In 1998 when they re-wired the house after the fire, that If water from the leaky kitchen sink hits something? just right, I get mini fireworks In the basement ceiling. Makes me feel REAL comfortable.

  3. When they foreclose on this dump, I will bid 10K for It, and dismantle the whole thing, and have an auction for the materials.

  4. I don't think the world is ending... but it sure is mixed up. I'm very sorry about your laundry list of things going wrong, especially that your wife has been so ill; pneumonia is very scary stuff. Getting through the worst takes a long time.

The news has been showing the devastation in Burlington with the flooding from the Fox River with all the rain. They are still without power and have had to bring in the national guard to check in on people and to keep the city safe. All the bridges in the city are closed, so it is one of those... "you can't get there from here." I can't imagine the work it will take to get things back in order. Basements are rivers and their living space is 3 feet under. Yikes.

  5. KK, Down In the area of the bottom of McKinley hill In 1960 the ice jammed up on Root River, and that entire area became flooded. They were rowing boats down the streets, and the fish were swimming. Took quite awhile for them to clean that mess up.

To add to my list of misery. I had to take my wife to the Dr. on Thursday, so I left early, and went out to the Chrysler, and started It, but I couldn't get the gear shifter to move. I locked It, and walked to the pickup (chevy) started It, and was on my way. Stopped at first Red light. Stopped at 2nd Red Light, turned left, went over the bridge, and put the brakes on, and they blew up. I couldn't stop, so I hit I woman In the rear, and finally coasted to a stop behind her. No damage to my truck, a crease In her plastic bumper. She called the Police. Reports made, and had to have the truck towed to the local repair shop. I also had them tow the Chrysler to be repaired. $800.00 to have both vehicles fixed. My wife with her Pneumonia had to drive to get me, so I could take her to her appt. I drove her home. She called me this morning to tell me, they have a BOIL water order for Necedah. I went out, and bought a load of water. The World Is Ending.

  6. Hang in there, Toad. It may not be ending... but you are surely being tested. $800 for both isn't that terrible; it could have been much, much worse, especially if you had hurt someone, including yourself. Thanks for sharing. I'm here if you need to vent.

  7. I don't drive fast, In the City. The light was Red, so I was at a crawl when the brakes failed. That moment when you KNOW it's going to happen Is really amazing. I can tell you my exact words. " OH SHIT " What pissed me off, was she kept driving a half block to the next corner, and turned right behind Walgreen's, so I followed, and used the curb to stop behind her.

  8. BTW, She Is a GREAT candidate for not learning cursive. Her writing was nearly unreadable.

  9. She drove away after the accident.... and then had the nerve to still call the cops? Maybe she thought the "bump" was one of those where the driver bumps you, then hijacks your car when you get out? Geez. If she is young, they can't read or write cursive. Sad. How do they survive? Everyone writes a little cursively. I'm surprised to see how the high school kids write, or should I say, print. It looks like a 5 year old wrote it.

  10. She's a MATH teacher, for the last 25 years. She told the cops she drove away, because she didn't want to block traffic. It didn't matter to me, It was my fault, but I had to roll without brakes a block.
