Hurricane Irma

My thoughts and well wishes to those who find themselves in the path of this monster storm. I'm concerned for friends who have property in the depths of this. I'm mostly concerned for those who did not evacuate, those who found out very late that they are now in the path. Stay safe, friends. Let's hope for very little destruction, minimal human injury, and no fatalities. These storms seem to be getting bigger and bigger every time.

  1. Both our Florida home and our home in SC escaped damage. We lost power in both, with SC coming back on Wednesday evening. We had opened our place in Walhalla to evacuees from FL. Poor souls endured a lot, but here we had mild temperatures.

These events teach you about people. We only had one person here who would not survive on her own. No maybe about it. Oh dear Lord. But, the rest of us had a fun adventure. We grilled out, showed them the area, and just enjoyed each other's company. No internet,no tv. Charades! Took us back to a place in time when conversation was entertainment. We told stories of our childhood memories. And, most importantly, we laughed.

I am not making light of this storm which destroyed many homes and lives in the Caribbean, SC, and parts of FL. I'm just finding the silver lining.

  2. My BIL and SIL live In Cape Coral, and left for Atlanta. Upon return, little damage. Some to screens around pool, and a big Mahogany tree was knocked down. They got help with the tree, which Is VERY heavy I guess. My nephew In Daytona, had shingle damage to part of the roof, but nothing else. My SIL from Jacksonville, has yet to report. I think my voice reminds her too much of her Husband? SO, I guess everybody was pretty lucky.
