Jim Gaffigan on why he can't talk about THAT topic

If you've never watched the Sunday Morning program with Jane Pauley you should consider finding it. It offers more than what your ordinary nightly news delivers. They offer a variety of topics and some "feel good" news that just doesn't market well enough to hit primetime. Also, if you haven't seen Jim Gaffigan in concert, you are missing out. He is a gas... and the jokes are mostly clean.

  1. It has become impossible to talk about important issues lately. Hold your tongue if you have an opinion, because it will unleash the extremists. You have to tip-toe around because people are so divided and ready to execute and attack.

I play an online game, as you know. I am shocked to see some of the divisive, hateful, paranoia posts by what are seemingly "normal" people. The hate and bigotry and full belief of bizarre end games is intense. There is so much mis-information spread, and shared, and re-shared.

Think tanks say that this a tool of radical and extreme politics: to keep the people silent and minimize dissent. Sadly, it appears to be successful. The politicians minimize and ignore the voice of the majority and continue to follow partisan agendas. We need to somehow figure out some cohesiveness. This only weakens us as a country. As Abraham Lincoln stated, "A house divided against itself cannot stand."

    1. OH My dear I will never be silent. NEVER. I posted a note to Facebook this morning about the young lady of Cuban decent having a tiny Cuban flag attached to her garb, as she stood on stage for 6 minutes and 20 seconds to send a message to America about the shooting In Parkland, FL. It seems Rep Steve King's re-election campaign has a HUGE problem with that. I wrote to my Facebook page, that I was going to sew a Danish Flag to my jacket. WHAT will that mean to his campaign? I would hope NOTHING since it's just an indication of MY heritage. I'm old, and grey, and won't have to endure the things these young people will, but I support EVERYTHING they stand for. As I posted to Rep Steve King. " GET YOU'RE RESUME " ready as a few of the young people stated Saturday.

  2. " THAT TOPIC " Really Is nearly all I talk about. I generally search out people that don't want to discuss my opinion of " THAT TOPIC " some become quite vile, so I remove myself from the area, just In was they may be carrying a weapon. Even when I'm not talking about " THAT TOPIC " nearly everything I say has some way of fitting into " THAT TOPIC " It may be the " MAN " In Madison, or even the " MAN " In Mauston? It still seems to be " THAT TOPIC " I believe I'm doomed. Even my Wife who has ALWAY'S hated " THAT TOPIC " Is addicted. Who ever would have guessed?

  3. There seem to be many different "THAT topics" which can't be discussed. It makes normal conversation difficult. Isn't that the reason people watch sports?

  4. Ya know? I really don't know at this time In my life WHAT can be talked about, and WHAT can't? They FALSLY claim I said the "F" word to a clerk at the grocery store here two years ago, and I'M BANNED FOR LIFE, per the MGR. Everybody wants to fight over the 2nd amendment, YET, do we actually have a FIRST Amendment? My point. If I say what I feel, how much can I say without having everybody all over my ASS? Our system Is a " Democracy so they say " I don't buy a work of It.

  5. Man, if I had a dollar for every F word I hear everyday at work and 2x for those directed specifically at me.... I could retire somewhere really warm and lush.

  7. I usually get them after others have "foamed" them up. You just let it roll off your back. Kids are hurting and they lash out.
