  1. Glad this 'holiday' is over. My poor pup. She can't find a place to get away from the sounds. I used to love fireworks. Somehow dogs change that. It really wasn't that bad IMO, but even a little firecracker sends her running. I tried Melatonin on her tonight, it might have worked, but not sure. She was sitting up sleeping. I hate that I can't coddle her, there is no comforting her. I tried that with the other dogs, and it seemed to make them worse. (the more attention thing)
Her, and the awkward/ weird day visiting family.. just made this a sucky day.
Hope everyone else had a good one!

  2. Sorry for your pooch. My dog used to hate fireworks, too. My brother recently bought a "thunder shirt" for his dog. He said it helps a lot for times of anxiety, with storms, noises and when guests are over. Not sure it would be enough for fireworks?

My neighbors had about a million of these "bombs." They lit them off randomly between the other hundreds of dollars of professional grade fireworks that they fired off. They started a dusk and went way past midnight, last night and the night before. These things were so loud, it made me jump and swear like a sailor, as it scared the F'ing life out of me.

  3. Sable was fine until we went to bed. Some yahoo set some off at about 1:30. One little shaking pup on top of her daddy. He cuddled her for a bit and she calmed down...wasn't even close to us....
Hopefully they will all run out of fireworks soon.

Wish we had gotten here a day or two earlier. Hillbilly Days was held yesterday, but we were too exhausted to go. Opossum cooking contest? Lol.

Going to be hot for the next five days...I mean really, really hot! Low hundreds. Yikes.

MC, sorry your holiday sucked. Sad. Hugs

  4. We didn't have any fireworks near us so the dog was fine (thank goodness).

What we have is Beejay weather. Walk out in the morning and the sunglasses steam up. It is toasty and humid. 98 today and 100 tomorrow. Sigh......

  5. We can feel Okie's weather on the way. The humidity is on the rise. My kitchen floor felt wet this morning. Only 70 degrees right now, but that is supposed to change today. Beejay, did you have to deal with that avocado green slime they are talking about on the news before you left?

  6. It's a bitch being old, and having dogs to boot. My poor Winnie Is terrified of fireworks. All the toothless people In the neighborhood were shooting all of the ILLEGAL fireworks they could get hold of. She crawls UNDER my recliner, and won't move. BTW, when I bad mouth these neighbors, It's 100% true. The Sheriff, and Police drive by, and could care less. I do things like WISH they blow finger off etc. Maybe set they're house on fire would be OK? That's why I'm leaving this town ( as soon as I get my head straight )

  8. I will have to look into Melatonin. The storm was a real treat last night also. I watched the Radar until midnight. I'm the family Weather Guy. I call and keep everybody from the family up to date. I really liked Suzie when I met her. Neat doggie.
