Nothing petite about this monster orchid. It was all I could do to drive it home.
Looks beautiful on my dining room table.
Hope it stays happy!
Thanks for the tips and encouragement. Home Depot was the place to go! I fed it one ice cube last night, as directed.
That's what an Orchid looks like?
ReplyDeleteit's gorgeous! That's a biggie! Before Mothers day, that size was $30+. Glad we found them on special! I just love mine. I may just be a bit of an addict, as I have 4. The 1st 3 were each $15, but the last was only $9.98, how could I pass that up? :) Don't lose hope when the flowers are gone, it will come back. Mine did, as my old neighbor assured me it would. Just keep up the couple ice cubes or whatever. I just give it a little water every once in a while when I remember. They're very understanding plants
ReplyDeleteThanks for your help and encouragement. I'm very pleased.... so far. I haven't splurged on myself for quite awhile, so letting go of the guilt.
ReplyDeleteYes, Toad. I wasn't sure what they were all about, either.
I just bought one in a mini vase from our local grocery store. $7.00. It's the second of this size I've bought. They do great. One T water a week is what the tag says. I doubt I watering once every couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteThey had some mini ones at Pick n Save, too. Theirs were more expensive. So... you going to give us a photo of your newest?
ReplyDeletepics finally on facebook
DeleteIt is a beast, but it is so gorgeous! Did the vase come with it?
Deletethere is so much I don't know about them, a worker at HD said something about cutting back the stem all the way to the leaves but that just didn't sound right to me, need to do some research for sure. They sure do make me happy
ReplyDeleteMy friend from work mentioned that she cut back the stem when the flowers died back. She said it took a long time for it to regenerate.
ReplyDeleteThere is a peacefulness, almost a Zen about the plant that makes me happy, too. Needed that!
