Happy Flag Day!

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day; in August 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress. Flag Day is not an official federal holiday.

Appleton, Wisconsin claims to be the oldest National Flag Day parade in the nation, held annually since 1950. It was also named "Most Patriotic City in America" by AmericaTheBeautiful.com in 2008.

  5. So much interesting history, and all we did in history class was watch black and white movie reels and memorize dates of wars and names of battleships. Don't forget to take notes, there will be a quiz that follows. Such a shame.

Here's what I did on my summer vacation... The dentist found a couple of things that need attention. Ugh. Maybe a cold beer won't be painful after he's done?
